WHAT’S UP!
I'm Aaron. A photographer based in the Bay Area in Northern, CA nestled in the hills of the East Bay. I'm self-taught with a sincere passion for all things photographic, outdoors, beautiful landscapes, sport, and of course amazing sunsets. I love being outside in nature and keeping things simple.
I spend most of my time shooting sports photography with a focus on youth through college. For me, it all started capturing these once in a lifetime moments of my boys. Being able to make these young athletes look and feel larger than life through photography brings me so much joy.
The photo of me high jumping below was taken by my dad in 1990 during the State Championship Track Meet my Junior year in high school. I scanned it from a print like the ones you used to get at the local pharmacy or in my day the drive up Kodak kiosk - cropping back then meant taking scissors to paper.
I have no idea what kind of camera he was using and I vividly recall right where he was sitting when he took it as well as the accompanying video. I can remember so much just by looking at this photo - the smell of the grass and track, the anticipation of competition, the crowd, and the feel of the wind on a hot Texas day. I’m 50+ but this photo brings me right back to that day as if it took place just yesterday. I am thankful for this photo to remember these moments since at the time technology/gear were very different than what we have today.
This is WHY I want to inspire families through my photography to create vivid memories just like this hoping someday those images will produce similar memories.
Shooting sports/adventure photography requires you to be at the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment, and knowledge of the activity you are photographing. This is especially true for the work I do underwater or in the ocean. Unlike portrait or other types of photography, there are no second chances. Once the moment is gone, it’s gone forever. The stuff I like to shoot occurs at 1/2000 second....never to be duplicated again.
You will very rarely find me doing anything staged - what is important to me is that things happen organically and in those instances is when you capture the best moments. I am committed to providing you and your family with only the best sports and adventure images possible to create those lasting memories.
